Home to a Stunning Collection of American Fine Art

We are fine art collectors specializing in nineteenth and twentieth century American prints and paintings. Works by Gustave Baumann, Edward Borein, Howard Cook, Frances Gearhart, Gene Kloss, Paul Landacre, Barbara Latham, and Helen Lundeberg are of special interest to us. Other specialties that we handle include art of the American West, the Depression era, abstraction, surrealism, and California plein air painting. The collection also focuses on Santa Barbara and New Mexico art.

The collection’s holdings include a variety of works by celebrated American artists. Prints and paintings by Thomas Hart Benton, George Bellows, Carl Oscar Borg, Mary Cassatt, Childe Hassam, Henrietta Shore, and Grant Wood, are particular points of pride.

Our team has been buying fine art privately for over forty years. The collection began in the late 1970s in Washington D.C. and New York City. At that time, Steve Macfarlane was buying mostly abstract, precisionist, and regionalist prints, as well as decorative arts and rugs. After moving the collection back to his hometown of Santa Barbara in 1986, he and his team have steadily grown to handle prints and paintings for every level of collector in many areas. As the collection has increased in renown, it has been displayed in exhibitions at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), the Smithsonian Hirshhorn Museum, the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, the Crocker Museum of Art, the Monterey Museum of Art, and others.

Over the years, our team has become highly respected and qualified to appraise and authenticate every work of art we purchase. We work with integrity in our business and in all transactions, and we value privacy and discretion. When you work with us you will always enjoy easy communication and fast payment.
