Landscape painter, etcher, muralist. Born in Astoria, IL on April 17, 1875. Nell Danely studied art at the University of Illinois, AIC, with John Johansen and Newton A. Wells. Her marriage to Albert Brooker in 1902 was short-lived. A widow, she arrived in Los Angeles in 1908 and married Leonard Mayhew in 1911. She taught at the College of Fine Arts at USC and Chouinard School of Art for many years. She remained in Los Angeles with a studio in the Blanchard Bldg except for the year 1925 when she was in Oakland. Mayhew died in Highland Park, CA on Sept. 24, 1940. Her oeuvre includes a complete set of color etchings of the California missions.
